It all started with a chainsaw and a pickup truck…
Ken Koster had a love for trees and rock climbing. When he realized that the knots used for rock climbing were the same needed for climbing trees, he decided to combine his love for both, and started his own tree trimming business. Several years into the business, Ken grew his company from just himself, a chainsaw and pickup truck, to managing a full tree crew. In 1992, Ken married his wife Sue and together they grew the company further. They ultimately bought a 4-acre tropical nursery where they focus on cultivating rare tropicals and palm trees, always making sure that their nursery is ever growing. Being the 3rd oldest licensed tree company in Santa Barbara, Quality Tree Care and Landscaping is well-respected within the community, focusing on quality residential, commercial, HOA and estate tree care. Ken’s creativity led him to diversify his business to include full service landscaping as well. Now 40 years in the business Ken’s vision of being able to pass his legacy down to his family has come true. For the past 18 years Ken had been mentoring his daughter Amanda, teaching her all aspects of the tree business. Taking these experiences with her, she now manages the tree division. Additionally, Ken’s son Ethan and daughter Zoey have joined the team, bringing their knowledge and experience to the company, truly making this a family-run company. Our customers return year after year for the care and maintenance of their trees. Each day, we send our crews out with respect and care for our community. Our ambition and passion carries through to our crews, ensuring that a quality job will be done time, and time again.
